Donovan Thompson
President & CEO, Straight Path Senior Living Marketing, LLC
A career dedicated to helping families navigate care
Donovan Thompson initially pursued a career in Industrial Engineering before transitioning to the healthcare industry at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, where he held various positions. In 1997, he relocated to Sarasota, Florida, where he dedicated nearly three decades to public service.
His public service career began at the Sarasota County Health Department, where he worked in accounting, fee assessment, and ultimately managed the Social Services Department — earning his first Davis Productivity Award for his innovative and efficient approach.
Mr. Thompson then joined the Department of Children and Families Services Aging Adults and Disability Division as an Economic Self-Sufficiency Specialist. He rose to become one of the group managers of the State of Florida's first Call Center for Economic Self-Sufficiency and was a key member of the State's Suncoast Region ACCESS Redesign Team — leading development of a new web application and streamlined eligibility process. This work earned him his second Davis Productivity Award. He later served as Manager of ACCESS Integrity, developing processes that improved efficiency and reduced program violations, and shared those innovations with other states including Mississippi.
In 2009, Donovan Thompson founded Public Assistance Consulting Services, LLC to help seniors prepare and apply for long-term care services and understand Medicaid eligibility. In 2012 he established Family and Elder Care Specialists of Florida to provide broader senior advocacy and personal support.
Driven by his commitment to the aging population, Donovan Thompson recognized the need for a platform that would empower families and medical professionals to find the right care home — eliminating confusion, reducing common pitfalls, and lowering the costs associated with placement. That vision became Straight Path Senior Living.
